Therapy is basically like having a conversation with somebody that you trust. It’s an objective listener who has no agenda, who is there just for you, where you can really explore whatever topic it is that’s on your mind or that’s concerning to you. You may meet once a week, every other week, once a month. It becomes a time of check in. It’s a place to check in with yourself. If we’re doing couples therapy, it’s a place to check in with your partner when you may not even have that time outside of those sessions to do so. It really becomes that haven for you to just have a place to ask yourself those difficult questions and really tune into what’s important to you at that time.
